Back to School and Back to Campus - Write On

Nowadays it seems like everything is typed and some students even try to take notes on their phones. As I seriously date myself by admitting that back in my time we didn't use a computer until my junior year of high school, I'm very glad of that fact. We learned to type on old fashioned heavy duty manual typewriters and practiced proper cursive penmanship for years. I have to admit I've been losing that and I took out some of my old calligraphy books to practice! Heading back to school, there was just something very exciting about cracking open a brand spanking new notebook to take notes down and record your impressions. I believe there are many benefits to journaling and sketching, and it's wonderful to start young. Of course, there are also many advantages to computers and tablets: using less natural resources, faster note-taking, etc. Still, having a couple of nice recycled paper notepads or sketchbooks will help their imaginations fly a bit farther.
